Willow Traders is having their first official blog hop weekend. I'm pretty excited about it because it's going to be an ongoing thing and it's a great motivator to be creative each week and post something. So, welcome to my blog, Willows!
My altered art group is doing a fabric banner swap. I'm really jazzed about this swap. The ones we've seen, so far, are so wonderful. There are 18 of us participating and we are doing one flag for each. The only rule is that it has to be fabric. I recently took Donna Downey's Fabric Scrapbooking class using her Prima canvas products. It was the best class I've taken in a long time. I had such a blast using paints, gesso, and such, much of which I knew how to use, but there were some fun things I hadn't, so it was a great learning experience, too. The best part was that it has inspired me to move more into that arena and play around. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend taking this class from her. It's well worth the money. As soon as the fabric swap was announced, I immediately thought of buying canvas fabric and doing what I had learned in Donna's class. I added some hand stitching and some pleating (with muslin) to make my banners a bit more textured and frilly. They are all a bit different. Some have different stitching and some have different colors. I just went with my mood when I was making them.
I'll be finished with all 18, today. It's been a busy, busy week working on these little guys. I'll be sure and post all of the ones I receive in August. Thanks for dropping by my blog for the hop!
